Sunday 9 August Ring 1
28. MARE or GELDING, 5 years old or over. 148cms or over but not exceeding 158cms.
(To be ridden side-saddle by riders who have attained their 14th birthday by 1 January 2026.)

Aim

To promote, present and preserve the art of side-saddle riding.

RDS Members: €300 each entry; Non-Members: €340 each entry.

Rules

The rider's ability and turnout, and the way of going, manners, conformation and movement of the horse will be considered as part of the adjudication.

Horse and rider combinations who are entered in the Intermediate Side-Saddle, Class 28 are not eligible to compete in the Ladies' Side-Saddle, Class 27.

Riders who have attained their 16th birthday by 1 January 2026 and are entered in the Intermediate Side-Saddle, Class 28 may also compete in the Ladies’ Side-Saddle, Class 27 provided they are eligible and have qualified. 

Horses / ponies entered in Class 28 may also be entered in other classes, provided they are eligible.

Exhibits in the Intermediate Side-Saddle must have a current and valid height measurement under the Showjumping Ireland / Irish Pony Society Measurement Scheme and their passports must be available on arrival for inspection.

Qualification

The top three pony / horse and rider combinations at each of the qualifiers will be eligible to enter the Dublin Horse Show.

Class 28:

1st €335, 2nd €233, 3rd €186, 4th €129, 5th €93

Cup No. 139 - The "Hanson" Perpetual Challenge Trophy presented to the winner of the Intermediate Side-Saddle class.
