New Ridden Connemara Pony Qualifiers for 2020

  • Ridden Connemara Pony qualifiers introduced for 2020
  • All DHS qualifiers taking place one month early
  • Show takes place from 15 – 19 July to facilitate riders competing at Tokyo Olympics

The 2020 Dublin Horse Show has moved forward and will take place from July 15 - 19 to accommodate international riders who will also be competing at the Tokyo Olympics in August of this year. This move will bring many qualifiers forward by approximately four weeks, including the new qualifying competitions for the ridden Connemara Pony classes.

The increased popularity of the Connemara pony, in both the performance and ridden show classes at the Dublin Horse Show, has led to the introduction of a series of qualifiers for the ridden classes in 2020. They will run alongside the Connemara Performance Hunter and Performance Irish Draught qualifiers at the Young Event-Horse Series venues in May and early June of this year.

The Dublin Horse Show has seen a very large entry in its Connemara pony ridden classes in recent years, largely driven by the success and interest in the Connemara performance classes. For this year, the top five ponies in each class, at each of the four qualifiers listed below, will be eligible to enter for the Show. The Dublin Horse Show will also offer a ridden Connemara stallion class in its Show programme, but qualifiers are not being introduced for this class currently.
